There are a number of alternative “avoiding zone 1” fares from Oval stations to zone 1 stations. I don’t know what is happening, other than the fares are being set and entered by people possibly unfamiliar with the Oyster/PAYG system. In the case of Shepperton the fares are set by SWR, so I suggest you query anomalies with them.
