I have a 60+ London Oyster and have to travel to Smallbrook Junction (on the Isle of Wight) and back on a Saturday in early July. I’m trying to work out what ticket to buy and whether to do so in advance online or on the day in person at Waterloo. I presume I need only buy a ticket from the Zone 6 boundary onwards to Smallbrook Junction – the first part of my outward journey and last part of my return would be covered by my 60+ Oyster. But if so, does my train need to stop at the Zone 6 last/first station (which one is it?) for an extension ticket to be valid?
The last staion in zone 6 is Surbiton, but trains do not need to call there because the 60+ Oyster card is treated as an off-peak season ticket. You can either buy tickets from Surbiton, or Boundary Zone 6. I think they’re the same price on that line, so Surbiton would be easier to get online. Enjoy your day on the steam trains.
