Had a very odd charge yesterday where the system seems to have misunderstood my tap on the platform validator at Highbury (I had a paper ticket for the GN journey beyond there). Here’s the journey details: (senior railcard is connected to the Oyster card)
22:47 – ???? Camden Town to [No touch-out] £0.00 £17.30
22:47 Touch in, Highbury & Islington £0.00 £17.30
22:29 – ???? Camden Town to [No touch-out] £4.40 £17.30
22:29 Touch in, Camden Town £4.40 £17.30I touched on at a gate at Camden Town and changed at Euston. I rang the helpline and they’ve refunded me the difference but I use Highbury & Islington a lot and am intrigued as to what I’ve done wrong.

Assuming these were the yellow validators between the Victoria line and GN platforms then you haven’t done anything wrong. Very very occasionally the Oyster system throws up a curveball like this. If it happens again then when you call the helpdesk press them to explain what has happened. You hopefully won’t get it again though.
