A while ago I tried to change trains from Elizabeth line to Central line at Ealing Broadway, however I could only see yellow readers showing entry / exit on the platform.

    Where are the pink readers?

My understanding is that the platform validators were changed from yellow to pink shortly before the Elizabeth line opened west of Paddington into the core. I believe that they were on the London bound EL platform near to the access to the Underground platforms. The fare finder still mentions them if you ask for a fare like Hayes and Harlington to Queens Park. I haven’t been there for a while though.

The London bound EL platform was closed on the day I travelled because of engineering works. The readers on the Underground platforms were yellow.

    Ah!

That might explain it. So you arrived on the fast line up platform and went straight to the Underground? Have you managed to get a refund if you were overcharged for the day? Stating that the pink readers were inaccessible ought to be enough to get them to recalculate the journey.

There was no overcharge as the default fare for my journey (Heathrow Terminal 2 & 3 to North Acton) did not involve zone 1.

Old thread, I know, but there are two pink readers at Ealing Broadway as far as I’m aware.

There’s one along the upper level passageway that leads from the ticket hall to the footbridge over the District line platforms – presumably intended for those changing between westbound Elizabeth line platform 3 and the District line.

The other one is on District line platform 8, at the bottom of the aforementioned footbridge. It’s next to the archway that you would use to walk to/from the Central line platforms, or the eastbound Elizabeth line platform 4.
