HI, Just wanting to check how I buy an extension for this as I arrive late at night & don’t want to wait around at the ticket desk?
I arrive late Tuesday night into Gatwick & need to get to Shepherds Bush so am changing at CLapham Juntion. I cannot work out what company run the train from Clapham Juntion to Shepherds Bush so I can’t check whether there will be works. Who runs this train?
Would I be better to just buy a ticket to Clapham Juntion & check in using the red machine on Platform 1 which is where to Shepherds Bush depart from or is there another way I can buy an extension online?24/06/2024 at 09:28 #5985Si HollettParticipantGatwick-Clapham Junction is run by the Southern brand of the GTR uber-franchise.

24/06/2024 at 11:02 #5990meglosParticipantI travel on my Freedom Pass regualarly and often down tap in at my local station, but when I get to a station with gatelines the barries will always open for me.
If I meet a revenue team on my train, as long as I’m inside zones (1-6), I never have any problems.
24/06/2024 at 14:51 #5992Mike (admin)KeymasterI’ll just add that the single from Gatwick to East Croydon is the same price as the single to Boundary zone 6 and can easily be bought from ticket machines at the airport.

As a TfL service, check with them for adjustments.
I’d also add that there’s probably no need to tap a freedom pass on platform 1 before boarding but it won’t do any harm if you do.

However there is an hourly train (vs every 15 minutes Overground) run by Southern that serves Clapham Junction and Shepherds Bush as part of its broader Watford – Croydon route.

I’m actually beginning to think that as my flight arrives at 1140, even with hand luggage only, i may not make that & will have to go onto Victoria station & hope for an underground going west… In fact I have the choice of going to Shepherds Bush or Stamford Brook
25/06/2024 at 19:35 #5998Mike (admin)KeymasterIf your flight arrives at 2340 then you probably won’t get a connection to Shepherd’s Bush. The last one leaves Gatwick at 2302. You probably need to get to Victoria and hope you’ll get the last tube at about 0040.
Is it tonight, or a later Tuesday?
25/06/2024 at 21:06 #5999kaye justParticipantactually i made a typo, my flight arrives at 2240, hand luggage only, south terminal so I’ll see what train i get onto & decide from there…
Thanks for all the help. -
