I am looking for a route which will allow me to travel from Croydon to Hammersmith for £1.75 during the evening peak, because the peak rail fare (£4.8) is too expensive. However, if I use the normal bus / tram route (Tram – 93 – 220) I won’t make it in time for the final leg.

Can anyone suggest me a route which I can use to avoid a second bus fare being charged? Thanks.

    Hi Michael,

I’ve had a look but I can’t see anything obvious. The problem is that no buses from Hammersmith go very far in the direction of Croydon, so your last leg will always be relatively short.

The best I can suggest is walking as far towards Wimbledon as you feel able, then touch in at the tram stop as the tram arrives and hope you get lucky. Bear in mind that if you do the journey both ways then the most you’ll be charged is 3 buses, as that is the daily bus/tram cap (£5.25). If you’ve made any other train journeys earlier in the day then they also count towards whatever rail cap you reach.

I intend to pay for the off-peak train fare (£2.45) back as the train is so fast, I can get back to Croydon in about 45-50 minutes.

Also, the cap is irrelevant for me as there is no way I can travel to £10.15 in a day staying outside Zone 1.
