I frequently commute from Banbury to Waterloo, changing trains at Marylebone. (Banbury –Chiltern–> Marylebone –Bakerloo–> Waterloo)
I think I could save some money by buying a Zone 1 to Banbury Off Peak Day Return ticket, but I’m not sure if I could use it on the journey from Marylebone to Waterloo, during the evening peak?
I considered getting a season ticket, but it turned out that buying individual tickets was cheaper, so this is what I’ve been doing.
I decided to buy a similar ticket to see what restriction code it would give me. (If there is a way to check before buying, I would be curious to know)
On a Zone 1 –LU–> PAD –GWR–> OXF Off peak return, the code was FP, which has no evening restriction, so case closed!
Banbury to London Underground zone 1 off-peak return is code WM which is unrestricted in the evening peak. It should be possible to view restrictions just before purchase online or at a ticket machine.
