ParticipantCan Plusbus tickets be bought with a 60+ or Freedom Passes?
There are 3 stations where Freedom Passes and 60+ are valid to and there is a Plusbus tickets i.e. Brentwood, Dartford and Elstree & Borehamwood.
There are a further 3 stations where Freedom Passes are valid and there is a Plusbus ticket i.e. Maidenhead, Reading and Slough.
I realise there is limited benefit buying a Plusbus ticket for Freedom Pass holders (only if travelling on the bus before 09:30 or after 23:00).
So can a 60+ or Freedom Pass holder buy a Plusbus ticket?

ModeratorHi Keith,
I don’t think they can, no. On the FAQ page: https://www.plusbus.info/faq at the bottom, FAQ19 states that the location for the plus bus ticket must be printed on the rail ticket. That looks like it excludes use with travelcards (which is what 60+ and Freedom passes are) unless they are outboundary ones and the origin station is printed on the ticket.

ParticipantThis does mean those travelling between London and outside London are disadvantaged compared with those travelling to one of these six stations and another station outside London because the latter can add bus travel at each end but the former can only include bus travel at one end.
e.g. Commuter who travels between Elstree and Borehamwood and Bedford can buy plus bus for both ends of the journey but a person travelling from Elstree and Borehamwood to West Hampstead can either buy a Travelcard to include buses at the West Hampstead end or buy point to point and Plusbus for Elstree & Boreamwood.

KeymasterAs I’ve said elsewhere, Plusbus and TfL don’t have agreements. There are a few other places where Freedom Passes and 60+ are vaild on TfL services only and Plusbus also exists. Brentwood, Cheshunt and Watford Junction spring to mind.

ParticipantI think you can buy Elstree & Borehamwood +Bus with a Travelcard issued by National Rail which has Elstree & Borehamwood printed as the origin (Elstree & Borehamwood – London Zones 1-6), to satisfy the requirement that the station must be printed on the rail ticket.
