I’m writing this on behalf of a friend of mine.
She travelled last Saturday from Slade Green to Custom House using Southeastern to Abbey Wood then the Elizabeth line to Custom House.
She tapped in at Slade Green but then also tapped on the readers on the platform at Abbey Wood before finally tapping out at Custom House.
Her TfL account then charged her for an incomplete Journey at £7.
It seems that it’s charged her £3.20 from Slade Green to Abbey Wood then no touch in and a touch out at Custom House.
So I assume that for some reason the Oyster reader on the platform has ended her journey and it hasn’t worked out that it’s all part of the same trip from Slade Green to Custom House.
She has applied for a refund for the incomplete journey today but I fear that because it asked her where she started the journey and she put in Slade Green that it may totally confuse TfL.
If I’ve done my maths right the fare from Slade Green to Custom House is £3.70 and she was charged £3.20 and the £7 incomplete journey fare so she should get a refund of £6.50
But I am worried that they’ll charge her for a second journey from Slade Green to Custom House and just refund £3.30.
Will the email confirmation from TfL show how much they are refunding?
