Are fares on TfL modes going up in January or in March inline with the NR TOCs?

    Hi Martin,

TfL have confirmed to me that their fares will also be changing in March.

Interesting to note that if I make a Zone 1-3 PAYG journey, the off-peak fare doesn’t go up, but if I want to go from 3-5, the fare goes up 20p to £1.70 as there’s now a complex fare uprating system for journeys outside Zone 1 instead of the flat £1.50 fare for all journeys from Z2-6.

Yes, TfL are abandoning the scheme where pairs of zones were treated the same. So 1-3 and 1-4 were the same off-peak, as were 1-5 and 1-6. Increases of 0p, 10p, 10p and 20p have separated them all out now. Similar treatment applies to the peak outside zone 1.

Obviously it wouldn’t be palatable to split up all the old £1.50 off-peak fares, but I expect the longer ones to be split further next year.

Is the Bus and Tram Discount single bus fare being rounded up to 80p as the adult fare is going to be £1.55?

According to the Mayoral Decision document the half-adult and child fares for bus and tram are being held at 75p.

Thanks Mike, I tried to read all of it, but didn’t see the changes for the B+T fares.

I’m assuming the 7 day discounted Bus & Tram Pass is still going up as the standard adult pass is?

In the executive summary it’s sections 1.8 to 1.14.

The 7-day pass is going up 70p while the 1-day pass goes up 20p.

Funny enough I renewed my bus pass with the B&T discount added to start on March 1st and I was still charged £10.60!

This was at a London Overground TVM.

Yes, the new fare tables don’t come into force until tomorrow for ticket machines.
