ParticipantHello, I was wondering if somebody could help me with this query I have please.
We are due to travel to London next month and while we are there, we were going to go to Box Hill. From my understanding we would need to get the train to Box Hill and Westhumble train station.
Our nearest train station for travelling on would be Vauxhall. I was wondering if it would be possible to tap in at the ticket barriers on Vauxhall train station and to tap out at Box Hill and Westhumble train station. However I’m unsure if Box Hill and Westhumble has ticket barriers where we would be able to tap out with a contactless credit card to end our journey.
If they do not have any ticket barriers to tap out with at Box Hill and West Humble, what is the easiest way to travel from Vauxhall to Box Hill and Westhumble.
Thanks.

ModeratorBox Hill & Westhumble is outside the current PAYG area so you cannot just touch in and out again. You need to buy a ticket for the day. Vauxhall has a ticket office, or there are ticket machines there, or you could use an online website.

ParticipantThanks very much for the help Mike.
Am I current in thinking that Boxhill & Westhumble are in 2025 getting updated to allow people to pay for their travel with contactless credit cards (being able to tap in and tap out).
It’s just when I was looking for the answer to my question, I came across a news article, that mentioned this rollout.

ParticipantIf I buy a paper ticket at the ticket office or at the ticket machine at Vauxhall. How do I get through the ticket barriers, would I need to tap in with my credit card to open the barriers?
I’m just confused as if I did this, I would be tapping in, but I would not be tapping out anywhere after this.

ParticipantTalster – yes, Box Hill is on the list of stations slated for PAYG station this year.
There has been no news regarding these 47 additional stations and when roll out will occur.

ParticipantThank you Si Hollett for the information.
Hopefully if we go to Box Hill again next year, the PAYG will have been rolled out, and it will be a little easier to travel to there.21/06/2025 at 21:22 #8263Andyboy
ParticipantInsert your paper ticket to open the barriers at Vauxhall. At Box Hill there aren’t any gates so just walk straight out.
On the way back just insert your return paper ticket to get out at Vauxhall.
