    Hello,
today I made a journey from Barking Riverside to Ilford, changing from LO at Woodgrange Park to EL from Manor Park, which is entirely within zone 4. TfL-LU fares apply here, meaning I was expecting the price to be £2,00.
I was however charged £2,30 – which I’m perfectly fine with as it was quite a long journey anyway – but it’s interesting to see how much less transparent the system has become since TfL have removed single fares from their public documents and have expected you to use the single fare finder for everything.
What makes me really curious though is that when I looked it up here, the finder said it was a zone 4-6 fare. The way I see it there are two possibilities:
    a) Single and daily prices no longer have any internal connection whatsoever – meaning someone has to manually assign both of these to every single station combination so you’re actually getting the correct cap fot the journeys you’ve made.
    b) I need a Z1-6 cap for travel between Barking Riverside and Ilford.

    Hi Daniel,

That’s an error I’d say. It’s expecting you to travel via Upminster and Romford, which is fine if you don’t want to leave the station to walk, but there ought to be alternative fares for each of the two OSIs with the Elizabeth line, especially since it’s the same train from Barking Riverside. The one you took would be zone 4 only while the other one would be zones 3-4.

Hey, fair enough. Most certainly a weird one as I both touched out at WP and touched in at MP 🤔

At the moment there is only one fare, so that’s what you’ll be charged whichever way you go. An OSI will join a journey every time, but only makes a route if one is defined for the journey being taken.
