Journey History in TfL Go

When TfL first decided to combine the Oyster app with TfL Go it’s fair to say that the journey history function left a lot to be desired.  Each journey showed only the start time and the destination, and if you clicked on a journey it didn’t show any intermediate touches, just the start and end points.

Improvements have been made along the way, but the latest release, which arrived just before Christmas, is now better than the history provided on the web account. Each journey is listed with start and end stations and the fare paid. If the fare was capped then the proper fare is shown crossed out with the actual amount charged (or Free) shown alongside. At the bottom of each day it shows how much you saved thanks to the cap. See the image to the right which can be expanded by clicking on it.

When you click on a journey it shows the times of all touches and indicates where successive journeys have been joined together by an out-of-station interchange. There have been reports on our forum that interchanges where one end is a validator rather than a gate are not shown correctly. If anyone is able to see whether that has been fixed, please comment below. I’m sure that it will be because the TfL Go app is very much an active project.

Just about the only downside, compared to the web account, is that you can only see journey history from the last month. This means that I’d lost access to some interesting multi-leg journeys in November.

  1. They still need to fix the bug which started when they begin showing intermediate taps where certain OSI are not being joined up in the app and show as “Unknown Exit” but the online version shows correctly. This seems to involve any journeys involving between the DLR Validators and a Gateline.
