Hi Mike,
Thank you for the excellent site and forum. The information is really excellent.
I will be visiting London in a few weeks, flying into Gatwick. I see from your fare finder page that if I tap in after 09:30 at Gatwick with contactless, I’ll pay £9.50 for the single fare, but also see a daily cap of £23.70 mentioned. I presume that refers to a zone 1-14 cap?
If I want to take some underground or bus journeys over the course of the day (and indeed the rest of the weekend), would it work out more expensive for me to use that zone 1-14 cap rather than a zone 1-2 cap or similar? That is, would it be more sensible to pay for the Gatwick to London train using one payment card and then use a different one for the rest of my trips in London? Or am I overthinking this and should just use the same payment card throughout the trip?
FWIW, I’ll be flying into Gatwick on the Friday and out of LHR on the Monday.
