Hi, sorry if this has been asked before. I use the tube everyday of the week, all within zone 1 and 2. However, on Friday this week I will be travelling from Bank to Golders Green, then back to Bank again (both trips are off peak hours).

My question is, as GG is in zone 3, will this return trip now extend my weekly cap with my oyster cap?

Usually by Saturday afternoon my fares will be capped by the weekly 1&2 amount and won’t be charged anymore. But I worry that this week after my GG trip, they will continue to charge me on Saturday and Sunday until it hits the zone 1&3 weekly cap..

Should I use contactless card instead just for this GG trip? will that work out cheaper?

I also have rail card discount applied to my oyster card, but I don’t think that impact the weekly cap anyway.

    Many thanks!

    Hi Ginger,

It won’t affect the weekly cap. On the day you go out to Golders Green, you’ll be charged 2x zone 3 singles which will probably result in the daily zone 1-3 cap being hit. It’ll still count towards the weekly zone 1-2 cap.

Feel free to copy your journey history here once the week has ended and I’ll check and explain how it’s done.
