I understood that Epsom was in Zone 9, but I went there recently and did enough trips that day to get a price cap, but despite that I only appear to have been charged for Zones 1-6 (£14.90, which is the same as I got for the following day when I stayed within Zones 1-6). Obviously I’m not complaining it I get charged less than I expected but I am curious to know why this is.

As an aside, does this mean you can also use a paper Zones 1-6 One Day Travelcard (or period Travelcard) to Epsom or does it have to be one that includes Zone 9?

Basically, it’s because the off peak cap is £14.90 for both zones 1-6 and 1-9.

However, if you travelled in the morning peak the peak cap for 1-9 is £21.20 but the peak cap for just zones 1-6 is still £14.90

A paper One Day Travelcard would need to have validity in all zones 1-9 to be valid at Epsom.
