ParticipantA couple of weeks ago I noticed a new Payments tab in the TfL Go app. Today when I opened the Oyster app I got a notification that it is to be discontinued and to use the TfL Go app. Although I can see the benefit of having everything in one app I think the information in the new app is a bit limited. It only shows the destination in the first screen then the detailed view only shows the origin and destination not the intermediate touches which can sometimes be useful, such as for claiming Delay Repay. Also find in a bit disorienting that the latest date is at the top but then journeys on that day are listed oldest first. Anyone else think this is a backward step?

ParticipantYes, and I already filed feedback with TfL to that effect regarding both features.
This was their response to the lack of showing origin and destination station information on the journey history tab.
I’ve passed your feedback & suggestionsover to our development team. They’ve confirmed that they aren’t currently able to introduce these features, however, it’s something they’d like to add, so keep an eye out for future app updates!
If I hear back regarding the lack of showing intermediate touches which is helpful if you haven’t memorised fares to confirm a pink validator was touched I’ll let you know.

ParticipantWhat I like about the new payments tab on the TfL Go App is that it now shows 60+ Oyster journey history and it updates the history in real time too. The old Oyster app couldn’t show any 60+ Oyster journeys (due to wrong generation card I think). Though for 60+ Oyster journeys on the TfL website it still seems you need to wait until the next day before journey history is available.

KeymasterThanks for starting this discussion. I’ve also commented about the journeys being described by the start time and the destination station, which seems a bit perverse to me. The lack of intermediate touches makes working out why a journey might have been joined unexpectedly a bit more difficult.
The addition of journey history for ‘first generation’ cards like the 60+ is a great step forward. The cards are not first generation, of course, so I’m glad that that stupid restriction has gone. I’ll check out the live history next time I use it. I did notice that it suggests it’s possible to top up a 60+ Oyster, which it really shouldn’t allow. I didn’t actually take it through to payment, but you can get all the way through the screens without an error or warning notice.
It’s a real shame you have to switch between app and website to get the full experience.
