    Hi,

Not sure if this is the right place to post but I have a ticket query. Please move or remove if not in the right place.

As a family of four we usually get 4 x Adult Off Peak one day travelcards with a group save discount from Chalfont & Latimer to LONDON zones 1-9.

I’ve just gone to book the tickets for Friday 27th December and can’t seem to find them on both TrainSplit and Chiltern Railways own website.

    Any ideas why?

Have Chiltern been sneaky and discontinued the group save tickets, either permanently or just for Christmas?

If it helps, this is what I’m after (X 4) https://www.brfares.com/!faredetail?orig=CFO&dest=0035&rlc=GS3&expert=on&flow=0&multi=1&fare=0&rte=40232&tkt=ODT

As there is also some engineering works affecting Chiltern but not TFl, could that be why?

There are no Chiltern trains running from Chalfont & Latimer that day. However the ticket is still valid on the Metropolitan Line trains so the journey is valid with that ticket.

Is there any way to force a ticket engine to sell the tickets?

    Hi Adam,

Yes, the lack of NR trains is probably why it won’t sell you the ticket. You could try Brentwood as the origin instead, or Cheshunt, or maybe Watford High Street. Any zone 7-9 National Rail station should work, except Dartford.

    Thanks Mike.

    Watford High Street works.

Can I double check that it’s valid to start and return to Chalfont & Latimer?

It also has a different Restriction code.

Chalfont has a B1 code which says that it can’t be used before 0930

Watford has a B2 code which says it can’t be used before 0915

Does that mean I can use the Watford ticket at Chalfont after 0915, or should I wait until 0930?

    Hi Adam,

That’s very strange. The route “AAA LDN ZONE 7-9” makes the ticket a day travelcard valid throughout zones 1-9. Normally the off-peak version of that is only valid after 0930. It’s possible that 0915 is a local easement for Watford High Street. I don’t think the gates at Chalfont will accept it before 0930.

Beyond that there is no need to go to Watford High Street at any time. It’s just a 1-9 travelcard.
