After a few weeks of travel I have discovered that is indeed £1.80 if one goes Tooting Broadway > Balham > Clapham Junction > Shepherds Bush > White City, as described in the first post. How exciting, and also obvious, but I guess I just didn’t believe it when it claimed bookending the journey with tubes (I could easily walk to Balham, and at the other end walk from Shepherds Bush) would actually make it cheaper. But it does. So there you go.
I wish I had an update but the lack of trains from Balham (or at least trains that link up nicely with the overground service out of Clapham Junction) has made it impossible to try without being hideously late (or even worse, early) for work. Maybe when the trains get back to normal one day.
Hi Andyboy, that’s 100% correct, my confusion is based on the little “(or Balham)” in this £1.80 route (which is the second route you described, with White City tacked on the end).
Avoiding Zone 1 via Clapham North/Clapham High Street (or Balham), Clapham Junction and Shepherd’s Bush(zones 2-3)
Touch in at Tooting Broadway
Mon-Fri 0630-0930 and 1600-1900 £1.80
At all other times
including public holidays £1.60As Mike says the contactless seems to refund it from £2.90 down to £1.80 depending on if you alight at Shepherds or White City. I may have misread. I’ll take it today and confirm. Or try to!
