According to the TfL blurb when the Silvertown tunnel opens in April passengers will be able to cross the river and travel for free on two DLR routes.
Woolwich Arsenal to King George V and Cutty Sark to Island Gardens.
Do we know how this will work?
I am sure I read somewhere that the fares for these journeys would be refunded which implied that passengers would initially be charged but be refunded after making that particular journey.
I personally think that King George V will become a bit like Hatton Cross on the free Heathrow travel area so that if you travel from Bank to Woolwich Arsenal you’ll pay the normal fare for the journey unless you alight and tap out and back in at King George V.
Some shorter journeys it doesn’t make a difference anyway.
As for Cutty Sark to Island Gardens I assume here it’ll charge you as you enter one of these stations then refund when you leave the other.
However it is TfL so I’m probably wrong and they’ll charge the full fare and refund the difference overnight.
Any thoughts?
