Tomorrow (18th July) sees the opening of the new Barking Riverside station, at the end of the extension to the Gospel Oak to Barking line. While it’s tempting to go along and see what it’s like, I will be refraining from travel until later in the week in line with advice from both TfL and the government.
The alarming news is that this opening seems to have caught the data people at TfL unawares. The TfL single fare finder does not have Barking Riverside listed; instead there is a note explaining that fares are the same as from Barking, and if you want to know the fare from Barking to Riverside then enter Barking to Upney! What a completely user unfriendly solution.
I didn’t want to go along with this on my fare finder, so I have programmed in a temporary hack which substitutes the stations under the hood and displays the proper fares straight away.
