Considering that we are in the middle of a general election campaign and that this project (Oval) is being sponsored by the Department for Transport, I was quite surprised to see that six new stations joined the contactless PAYG system yesterday. The six stations are: Beaconsfield, Denham, Denham Golf Club, Gerrards Cross, High Wycombe and Seer Green & Jordans.
Single fares are priced by Chiltern Railways and daily, off-peak and weekly caps are set at the same as the relevant travelcard price from zone 1. The immediate benefit for commuters who would usually buy a weekly travelcard is that they can now just travel and not worry whether they will make enough journeys to justify buying the travelcard in advance.
I’ve activated these six new stations in the fare finder which shows fares and caps (if available). The time to complete journey information will be added once I have it.
I’ve found an anomaly – High Wycombe to Greenford is only priced via Z1, whereas the next stations further from Wycombe (South Greenford and Perivale) are not and thus have a fare that is very much cheaper than the ‘via London Terminal’ one.
Thanks for that, I’ll pass it on.
Doing some checking, it seems that Greenford Underground Station has gone missing from the Single Fares Finder data, with only Greenford Rail Station being shown.
By my reckoning, pricing should be the same as Perivale, given both are in Zone 4.
By way of an update on this: I’ve been told that Greenford Underground Station (as opposed to Greenford Rail Station) has, in fact, never existed in the TfL Single Fare Finder feed, which is why the “not via London” fare hasn’t fed through.
Chiltern’s Pricing Manager has provided TfL with the necessary manual overrides (as predicted, at the same fares as Perivale for the ones avoiding London) so they should appear at the next fare release.
Thanks for this update. It also explains why Greenford station on my station list only says NR. I’m about to fix that.
