ParticipantA couple of weeks ago I noticed a new Payments tab in the TfL Go app. Today when I opened the Oyster app I got a notification that it is to be discontinued and to use the TfL Go app. Although I can see the benefit of having everything in one app I think the information in the new app is a bit limited. It only shows the destination in the first screen then the detailed view only shows the origin and destination not the intermediate touches which can sometimes be useful, such as for claiming Delay Repay. Also find in a bit disorienting that the latest date is at the top but then journeys on that day are listed oldest first. Anyone else think this is a backward step?

ParticipantYes, and I already filed feedback with TfL to that effect regarding both features.
This was their response to the lack of showing origin and destination station information on the journey history tab.
I’ve passed your feedback & suggestionsover to our development team. They’ve confirmed that they aren’t currently able to introduce these features, however, it’s something they’d like to add, so keep an eye out for future app updates!
If I hear back regarding the lack of showing intermediate touches which is helpful if you haven’t memorised fares to confirm a pink validator was touched I’ll let you know.

ParticipantWhat I like about the new payments tab on the TfL Go App is that it now shows 60+ Oyster journey history and it updates the history in real time too. The old Oyster app couldn’t show any 60+ Oyster journeys (due to wrong generation card I think). Though for 60+ Oyster journeys on the TfL website it still seems you need to wait until the next day before journey history is available.

KeymasterThanks for starting this discussion. I’ve also commented about the journeys being described by the start time and the destination station, which seems a bit perverse to me. The lack of intermediate touches makes working out why a journey might have been joined unexpectedly a bit more difficult.
The addition of journey history for ‘first generation’ cards like the 60+ is a great step forward. The cards are not first generation, of course, so I’m glad that that stupid restriction has gone. I’ll check out the live history next time I use it. I did notice that it suggests it’s possible to top up a 60+ Oyster, which it really shouldn’t allow. I didn’t actually take it through to payment, but you can get all the way through the screens without an error or warning notice.
It’s a real shame you have to switch between app and website to get the full experience.

ParticipantThe app crashes once I open the Oyster page.

ParticipantIs anyone having issues this morning pulling though Oyster data in the TfL Go App?
I am getting a “No Journey History” error.
Regarding the lack of intermediate touches in the TfL Go App I’ve finally had a response from. TfL
Our development team have confirmed that they are monitoring feedback on journey and payment history so that we can look to improve this feature in future.
We will consider this feedback for future improvements

ModeratorI checked earlier and it was working fine. I even saw the touch in on the bus I was using after about 15 minutes

ParticipantThis is all a bit mind boggling. There’s no sign of my 60+ card in the Oyster app or on the Oyster web site. I logged in to my photocard account and it showed a 12 digit number (that is not printed on the card) but when I tried to add that on the app it said it’s registered to someone else!
The Oyster app has the corresponding 12 digit no, but says the card is first gen and so won’t work. The card had the “D” on it, which I understood to mean that it’s not first gen.

ParticipantWhy shouldn’t top up on 6o+ Oyster be allowed? Can’t it (top up) be used for travel before 9am?

KeymasterHi Colin,
60+ Oyster cards are not first generation, but that was what the Oyster app called them, same with zip cards. I added my 60+ Oyster to my web account as soon as I got it, perhaps try that rather than doing it through the app or TfL Go.
No, 60+ Oysters cannot have topup added to them. There is no way to tell when you might have to pay or not where different services use the same stations. For example, the 60+ Oyster is not valid on London North Western services from Watford Junction and Bushey, but it is valid on the London Overground Lioness line services. Similar issues apply with Shenfield, Cheshunt and others. There are also places like West Croydon to New Cross Gate where the 60+ is valid on London Overground Windrush line after 0900, but not on Southern until 0930.

ParticipantThanks. Pretty sure I added my 60+ to my Oyster web account as soon as I got it too. Fairly sure I’ve previously seen journey history on there. But nothing there now. I’ve tried adding it but the no printed on the card is not 12 digits (it’s 4 letters followed by 4 numbers) and if I use the number I discovered from my photocard account it says it belongs to someone else. The journey history is on the photocard account though. Clearly the two accounts aren’t linked.
I’m just remembering that I lost my card previously and ordered a replacement. I wonder if that’s anything to do with it….

KeymasterIt’ll certainly have a different number. Contact the helpdesk and ask them what you should do. You will see journey history when it’s sorted out, it’s all zero fares though.

But isn’t that an issue with PAYG generally?

KeymasterNo. Oyster and contactless PAYG is valid on all services* within the area. The 60+ is a special concession which is not valid on services outside Greater London (with a few exceptions like Dartford).
*For the pedants, it’s not valid on Avanti West Coast because they do not carry passengers solely between Watford and Euston – it’s all long distance stuff. Also not valid on High Speed 1 beyond Stratford International.
