Normally if I add the photocard to my existing Oyster card, they don’t charge me anything else as I’m spending £10.90 on buying a Bus & Tram Pass, so had to spend £5 on the deposit, £1.50 on PAYG and £10.90 for a 7 day pass.
Don’t get me wrong, the local newsagent is one of the few retailers that know how to use the terminals for more than just standard PAYG/travelcard transactions and were very helpful in resolving my issue after my other card failed this week.
I wish there was a way where discounts could be associated with a contactless card than having to use Oyster when it comes to things like this as I already use Contactless for rail journeys.
There has to be a point where railcards and B&T photocards can be linked into using contactless or Google/Apple Pay.
It’d save a lot of faffing about every time trying to get my card added every time it needs renewing.
Funny enough I renewed my bus pass with the B&T discount added to start on March 1st and I was still charged £10.60!
This was at a London Overground TVM.
Thanks Mike, I tried to read all of it, but didn’t see the changes for the B+T fares.
I’m assuming the 7 day discounted Bus & Tram Pass is still going up as the standard adult pass is?
Is the Bus and Tram Discount single bus fare being rounded up to 80p as the adult fare is going to be £1.55?
Interesting to note that if I make a Zone 1-3 PAYG journey, the off-peak fare doesn’t go up, but if I want to go from 3-5, the fare goes up 20p to £1.70 as there’s now a complex fare uprating system for journeys outside Zone 1 instead of the flat £1.50 fare for all journeys from Z2-6.
