    Here’s the validity map.

It’s valid on GA to the outermost Z1-6 station they serve, which is Romford. Beyond there to Shenfield it’s only valid on the Elizabeth line.

I see that both Epsom and Cuffley are now listed as Zone 10 stations on your fare finder, which does indeed put an end to inboundary Travelcard validity at those locations (TfL buses aside). Did GTR make those changes in the March 2026 fares revision?

etr221, since their previous Zone 9 status was only ever a half-open secret I suspect GTR felt their recent rezoning didn’t need any publicity beyond messages to fares staff and other retailers.

Speaking of Tattenham Corner and MJTs Mike, some YouTubers recently used Oyster to make a 2h45m journey from Chesham to Tattenham Corner on a weekday (0430-1900).

As per the MJT tables on your site it’s a 14-zone journey for which the limit is 3h20m, however the TfL guidance (which the YouTubers referred to) classes it as an 11-zone limit of 2h50m and basically says you get no extra time for any travel beyond Zone 6. What’s up with that?

(N.B. I’m guessing you obtained the extended tables through a FoI request)

I don’t believe you need a web account for the Railcard discounts. You can register your Oyster on the web account after you’ve added the Disabled Railcard to your Oyster at a tube station and travelled with the discount enabled.

The fee for new standard Oyster cards increased to £10 a few months ago.

Others here may know better but my suggestion would be to go to a visitor centre, or a staffed Underground/Liz station and check it on a ticket machine. If staff assistance is required to reveal the number you can ask someone for help.

Note – If it doesn’t have a capital ‘D’ in the bottom-left corner of the reverse side, it’s a first-gen card and won’t be compatible with TfL Go.
